CASTING TASKS 1, 2, 3

Task 1

Perform Narrow back casts and forward casts All day Every day

How to perform narrow back casts

Define your arc

Arc and loop size are tied to one another.
There is no way to achieve a narrow loop with a big ass arc. Keep it tight and smooth. The pickup loop sets the pace for the next few casts. Typically I feel that the arc is much smaller than I feel it ought to be. Always check in to see where you are at to ensure good casting. Think about traslation or pulling vs rotation or a wristy cast.

Task 2

Good narrrow loops followed by a big wide loop on the front cast straight back into a narrow backcast.

How to create a wide loop – Arc and loop size are directly related. So by having an arc on the forward cast that ends very low lets just use 9 as a marker to create the wide loop. The caster will also likly use more wrist on the forward cast to exaggerate the flaw and dome out the loop.

Then much like a pick up loop teh caster will have a slow lift to the proper arc size to flow directly into a narrow backcast.

Task 3

Tailing Loops

Winds knots are not caused by the wind, but instead by crappy casting. Typically they are called wind knots because most people think that in order to make a cast into the wind they have to apply more power. The spike in power causes the rod tip path to leave its straight path

and it causes the tip to raise up which we can see in the line. This is caused because the rod tip was under tension, loaded, and it comes
