CASTING INSTRUCTION

Fly casting is one of the few opportunities that we have to be social with one another while actively learning and doing. Getting out one on one or in a group setting socializing and celebrating our sport off the water has become almost as enjoyable as actually casting into the water. Come see what it is all about.

IN THE FIELD INSTRUCTION

Fly casting instruction

Of all the variables that exist in fly fishing an angler can control only one of them. Where you place your fly. I have seen flies dressed for kings, water so pristine that the trout have no fear, saltwater fish piped up ready to eat and casts that land in a heap well outside of the target. Always stack the deck in your favor, get proficient in loop formation and delivery.

Fly casting instruction colorado single handed rod

SINGLE HANDED CASTING

A single handed fly rod can be from 0wt to 16wt and they all are built for different applications, but with one goal in mind, to efficiently deliver a fly to a desired target. The best single handed rod in the world can only help so much, after that discipline must do the rest. The angler is responsible for about 70% of the cast and a high end rod will account for the rest. Becoming proficient requires a separation of the cast from actual fishing, which is why it is best done in the field. Colorado’s Front Range has parks as beautiful as the rivers and in the field, we focus on the 5 essentials of fly casting to make smooth efficient loops. Benefits include, more fish hooked, less flies lost, pride in your casting, and a general sense of happiness on the water. Casting lessons can be tailored for accuracy, distance, double haul, destination trips, or whatever improvements you are looking to make.

Spey Casting Instruction Colorado

TWO HANDED CASTING

Land locked here in Colorado, but travel to the coasts to chase steelhead, salmon, or char? A quick brush up on basics before your trip might pay off in pounds. Really effective anglers with the long rod know that consistency in casting is what the difference between good and great is. These same two handed casts incorporate into your single handed fishing, but also work great for trout spey on Colorado’s larger waters.
